There are several abnormalities and problems associated with the penis and penis size. However, many of these penis abnormalities and problems are not serious and can be easily fixed. The most common penis abnormality is hypospadias. Hypospadias is a defect where the opening of the urethra is on the underside, instead of at the end, of the penis. Hypospadias usually occurs in up to 4 out of 1,000 baby boys. Hypospadias can be fixed via surgery, using tissue grafts from the foreskin.Another common penis abnormality is a retractile penis. A retractile penis usually occurs in males who are obese and have a large amount of excess fat located over the pubic region. A retractile penis can also occur following circumcision. A retractile penis can usually be fixed by simply losing weight. It can also sometimes be surgically corrected.Priapism is another common penis abnormality. Priapism is an involuntary prolonged or painful erection. It can last for several hours or several days. It is unrelated to sexual arousal. Priapism can occur at any age. It is dangerous because it can result in impotency. There are several possible causes of priapism, including infection, spinal trauma, medication, sickle cell disease, spinal cord injury, and stroke. There are many treatments for priapism. Some of these treatments include a cold shower, ice pack, certain medications, shunt surgery, etc.
Phimosis is another common penis problem. Phimosis consists of the tightening of the foreskin on the penis, preventing a full retraction of the foreskin from the head of the penis. The most common forms of phimosis are infant phimosis and acquired phimosis. Treatments for phimosis are steroids, surgery, and stretching the foreskin out.
One last common penis problem is premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual disorder associated with the penis. Premature ejaculation is defined as when a man ejaculates before his partner would prefer. Causes of premature ejaculation are thought to be emotional problems, abnormal hormone levels, thyroid problems, etc. There are a few treatments that can decrease or completely solve premature ejaculations. These treatments include masturbating a few hours before a sexual encounter, daily Kegel exercises, antidepressants, etc.
